A calendar event is not a licence register
Shared list, not a private event.
Many teams track renewals as repeating Google Calendar events. That works until the person who created the events leaves, or until you need the PDF next to the date. Calendar is for meetings. Dated items are records.
What Calendar does well
A personal reminder to "look at insurance" next April. A meeting to discuss a lease.
What it does poorly
- Ownership when staff change
- Files
- A list you can filter by site
- An audit of who changed the expiry
- Backup recipients
A split that works
Keep the negotiation meeting on Calendar. Keep the expiry, number and file in Renew Clock. Link them in the notes if you must.
FAQ
Can I subscribe to a calendar feed of expiries?
On plans that offer a calendar token, yes. That is a view of the register, not a replacement for it.
Can I import .ics?
You would still need fields Calendar does not have. Start from a spreadsheet of dates if you have one.
